I have said this more than once, but only because I truly believe it- you are what you eat. Because food is so much more than “fuel”. What you eat can affect your energy level, your mood, and even the way you smell. If you put junk in your system, you’ll feel and look like junk. So let’s change that and take the time to eat better and learn more about where our food comes from.
If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, click that ‘Follow’ button now!), you have probably seen a few posts about a company offering amazing, affordable grass-fed dairy food products- Rolling Meadow Dairy. There’s a good reason why I recently became a proud brand ambassador for these guys- they offer amazing-tasting, healthy grass-fed dairy products that won’t bankrupt you. I have been waiting my whole life for this.
Founded in 2012, Rolling Meadow Dairy embarked on a mission to become Canada’s #1 pasture-based milk and butter. Under the leadership of then (and current) CEO Matthew Von Teichman, Rolling Meadow Dairy set out to locate farms that were breaking from the hyper-industrialized food production process by letting their cows out into pasture. And whenever Matthew came across a farm like this, he approached the farmer and asked them to join his Grass Fed Revolution. And that’s where the seeds of his revolution were first sown- in the farmlands of Ontario.
Rolling Meadow Dairy farmers are required to feed their cows with a minimum of 80% grass year round. When you let cows eat what they were intended to eat (grass), it really brings food back to the basics, with the cows being healthier, happier, and therefore producing better-tasting and more healthful milk (such as having a better ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fats to better guard you from certain cancers). They also learned that while feeding cows grass doesn’t yield the highest quantity of dairy products, it does yield the highest quality of dairy products. Quality over quantity. Simple.
And believe me… you can taste and feel the difference. Take it from me- I drank conventional milk in a bag for most of my life, when I switched over to Rolling Meadow’s milk, it was creamier, richer, and tasted more like real milk instead of the featureless, and almost watered down stuff that I grew up with.
So, where is Rolling Meadow Dairy’s Grass-Fed Revolution, today? There are now eight farms that are part of the Rolling Meadow family, all located in Southwestern Ontario within the Mennonite and Dutch communities with herds ofless than 100 cows per farm. In keeping with their commitment to quality, the member farms ensures that the cows graze at least 150 days per year. That’s good eats.
As average consumers are becoming more educated on how food can affect them, I hope to see more Rolling Meadow Dairy products across all grocery stores. And yes, I am whole-heartedly part of the Grass-Fed Revolution, and you should be, too! The best part is that you don’t have to go to any fancy expensive grocery stores to buy Rolling Meadow Dairy foods. They can be found at the Real Canadian Super Store and Longo’s (I usually get mine from the local Milton locations).
No excuses. Join the grass-fed revolution and started eating better dairy today. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
