Let’s Eat! Downtown Milton Series: The Works

Milton (my not-so-little town of 100,000 people) Ontario is a fantastic place to live and there is a great sense of community. There are lots of great restaurants- especially in downtown Milton. Downtown Milton stretches from Main and Brown Street (at St. Paul’s Church) to Main and Millside Drive (Grace Anglican Church).  The Let’s Eat! Downtown Milton Series will feature restaurants and local food establishments in Downtown Milton, and welcome to the first feature!

Have you ever been to a burger joint that seems to carry every type of burger that you’d want to try?  Meet (or should I say… meat): The WORKS Gourmet Burger Bistro! This burger joint is situated in the heart of downtown Milton, and is always one of the busiest restaurants in the district (and with good reason)! Every time we go on the weekend, it is always hip and happening. It’s a small, cozy place so expect a wait during the busy dinner rush!

The menu is VERY extensive so get ready to read! There are everything from sandwiches, starters, salads, appetizers, shakes & slushs, desserts, and of course- burgers! I have only tried the burgers on the menu but everything looks delicious!

Everything you want kind of menu!

There are over 50 burger varieties on the menu – you can check it out online here! The burger selections are very unique and you can even pick the type of meat (or veggie patty) and bread bun you like!  Meat selections include: 100% Canadian Beef, chicken breast, ground turkey, gourmet veggie, portobello mushroom cap, crispy chicken, cheese stuffed beef patty, bacon & beef patty, and even elk!  The are also lots of gluten free options to suit everyone’s dietary needs.  It’s the first time I ever had a modular burger.

We ordered “Son of a Beech” and the “Man Cave”.

The Man Cave

The Son of a Beech burger has avocado, beechhouse sauce, sundried tomato & feta cheese. The Man Cave has caramelized onions, bold BBQ sauce, jack cheese & bacon. We ordered both with the 100% Canadian Beef and hand cut fries. The beef was full of flavour. It was cooked to perfection and still so juicy! And I wasn’t disappointed with the size of the burger patty.  It was a good, hearty size.  I’m no stranger to the other “gourmet” burger places, but luckily The WORKS doesn’t skimp out on the burger portions.

Sides include fresh cut fries, spicy die-cut chips, steamed broccoli, cukes & celery, weeds, spicy bold slaw, sweet potato fries, poutine Chez Gu, Get Baked Poutine and Longhorn Poutine. I definitely want to try their poutine in the future since their fries are well-cut and fried up nicely. We really wanted to take advantage of the unlimited “bottomless fries” (yes – you heard right – Unlimited fries!!) but my eyes were bigger than my stomach and there was no way I could have gone for another round of fries!

Lots of cool drinks!
Lots of cool drinks!

The menu also features a lot of neat drinks! All the non alcoholic beverages comes in a cool measuring glass! They also serve slushes, decadent shakes, and a great selection of beers.  There are the typical beers but also a few local specialty ones: Barking Squirrel Amber Lager, 8th Sin Black Lager, and Cracked Canoe Light.

The decor was rustic and showcased the Town of Milton all around! I love that special, localized touch!

This is a great place to grab a bite to eat. The staff and atmosphere are relaxed and friendly. Most importantly, the food is fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back to fulfill our burger cravings in the future.
